Europe's Slowest Website — November 2026 — Competition Rules

Edition: November 2026. These rules apply only to the November 2026 edition of the competition. Version 1.0, published 17 October 2026.

1. The promoter

Alexa Web Servers, Av. San Borondón 3, Adeje, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain (NIE Y7652306J). Contact: Email address Phone number.

2. The competition

We invite businesses to submit their website address. At the end of the entry period we measure every entered website in the same way and publish the results. The website with the slowest measured load time, as defined in section 6, wins a website rebuilt from scratch by us, hosted free of charge for the first 30 days.

3. Who can enter

  • Businesses, organisations and sole traders established in the European Union, and individuals aged 18 or over acting on behalf of such a business.
  • You must be the owner of the entered website, or have the owner's permission to enter it. We may ask for confirmation before awarding the prize.
  • One entry per business. Duplicate entries are treated as a single entry.
  • Not eligible: websites owned, built, hosted or maintained by Alexa Web Servers, our contractors and their families; websites that contain illegal content, adult content, or promote unlicensed gambling; nominating a third party's website without their permission.

4. How to enter

Comment the website address on the competition post on our Facebook Page or Instagram account, or email it to Email addresswith the subject line "Slowest Website". Entry is free. No purchase is necessary and no payment of any kind is required to enter or to win.

Entries close on Sunday 29 November 2026 at 23:59 UTC. Entries received after that time, or which do not include a working website address, do not count.

5. Permission and contact

By entering, you confirm that you own the website or have permission to enter it, and that we may measure it and publish its address together with its performance figures. We do not publish your name, email address or any other personal data (see section 9).

6. How every website is measured

All entries are measured on Monday 30 November 2026, in the same conditions, and the method is published with the results:

  • Mobile emulation with Google Lighthouse, from the same machine, at the same connection profile, with simulated slow 4G and a mid-range processor.
  • Each website is measured three times. The median result is published.
  • The figure that ranks the table is LCP — Largest Contentful Paint: the moment the main content is actually visible on screen.
  • Server response time, main-thread blocking time, layout shift and page weight are published beside it as explanation, not as the ranking.
  • Websites that block automated measurement, require a login, return an error, or are offline on the measurement date are listed as not measurable and cannot win.
  • We may re-measure the leading entries before awarding the prize. The published measurements are final.

7. How the winner is chosen

The eligible entry with the slowest measured LCP on the published table wins. If two entries tie, the one with the greater page weight wins. If a winner cannot be reached within 7 days of the announcement, or does not confirm ownership within that period, the prize passes to the next slowest eligible entry. The winner is announced on Monday 7 December 2026.

8. The prize

  • A new website built by us from scratch: up to five pages, using the winner's existing content and images, on the winner's own domain. Design, build, setup and launch are included.
  • Hosting free of charge for the first 30 days from launch.
  • After those 30 days, the website remains online on our Simple Hosting plan at €9.99 per month. This plan is optional: if the winner does not want it, the website files and content are handed over and there is nothing to pay.
  • Not included: e-commerce functionality, logo or brand design, photography, copywriting beyond reuse of existing text, paid plugins, and any third-party cost.
  • There is no cash alternative and the prize is not transferable. If the winner does not want the prize, no substitute is offered.

9. Data protection

Alexa Web Servers is the data controller. We process the website address and the contact details you use to enter for the purpose of running this competition, on the basis of your consent and our legitimate interest in administering it. Material changes are published on this page with a new version number. We are not liable for entries that are lost, delayed, or not received for technical reasons.

12. Liability
