What to look for in managed WordPress hosting
Before the list: here’s what actually matters for a business site in 2026.
- Free SSL + auto-renew — non-negotiable. A site without HTTPS loses traffic and trust overnight.
- Daily automated backups with one-click restore — not weekly, daily. Sites get hacked.
- PHP version control — you need to be able to change PHP without opening a support ticket.
- Staging environment — test updates before they break the live site.
- Renewal price, not promo price — the real number is year 2 onwards. We list both.
- Support response time — we check this. Under 5 minutes for chat is acceptable. Over 20 minutes is not.
